On Saturday morning I participated in my first boxing group at Apex Park, just across from Mona Vale Beach. At 7am I put on a pair of boxing gloves and joined the 'newbies' group to learn the correct technique for the boxer and the 'padder'. After learning the technique I joined the regulars group with my fellow newbies to incorporate running and squats.

My boxing buddy was a lovely man who shares a similar sense of humour to myself. His strength was a great challenge to me, yet we did a great job at encouraging each other on. For my buddies last run I was meant to squat around and wait until he got back, but before he started he said 'not again' and so I ran alongside him (I need to be running more) and he did the same for me on my last run. I can't wait for next week.

Gym is helping me meet new people, and finally I feel like I'm becoming part of the community. I should have done it two years ago. What has changed? Nothing, I still can't afford gym membership, but after my 4 week trial at Vision Personal Training I was addicted. Tomorrow morning is my first session of increasing my workout from 30 to 45 minutes, and I'm going it alone.
