Dunes restaurant

Dunes restaurant is the perfect place for dinner on the Northern Beaches. Don't let your first glance scare you from going in, it looks very fancy and posh, but the staff and diners are all friendly, down to earth people who enjoy great food and a lovely atmosphere. Mark and I have been here a few times now, and we are always impressed. The menu is great, and it is always hard to decide on just one dish - well, one entree and one main each - which then of course we share.

On our last visit to Dunes, Mark ordered and thoroughly enjoyed crispy tempura zucchini flowers filled with ricotta and artichoke, served with mixed rocket, fennel and a pomegranate dressing. Whilst I indulged in  Figs, cheese and proscioutto, and Mark's entree. Entrees are under $20.

For mains we shared crispy skinned Atlantic salmon on garlic mash, with hollandaise
sauce, asparagus spears and lemon salsa verde ($29.50), and twice cooked free range duck on roasted honey parsnip, with witlof and toasted walnut salad and a morello cherry dressing ($28.00).

Whilst the caramelised lemon tart on the dessert looked delicious, neither of us had any room left in our tummies to even consider ordering it. Our strategy for the next time we go to Dunes is to go straight to mains and leave room for dessert.
